First of all, it wasn't a name-dropping thread but a thread intended to find some new writers to read. And a succesful one at that, since I just ordered 2 books from writers I haven't heard of before.
Never read anything by d'Annunzio, but if you say he's a good writer I'll read one of his books some time.
As for the whiny stuff: You didn't defend a composer, you threw a temper tantrum when you thought someone said he didn't like Orfeo et Euridice, and continued to make a dumb-ass comment saying that if a person doesn't like him, that person shouldn't be listening to classical music at all.
