It is not gay. It is good hygiene and part of taking care of yourself. It is metrosexual according to the "experts." That is defined as heterosexaul men who participate in grooming activities that some might call "gay."
I think if you ask your girlfriends, wives, partners etc if they prefer some grooming to unruly hair in all the wrong places and dirty nails they will tell you to go for it.
