One thing you DO need to realize is that there will be imperfections, settling, some sap, cracks, etc. I have a couple of places of sap, some places that have been filled in between the logs, and of course small cracks in the logs themselves, but IMHO, that's the character of the logs. They aren't structural problems, but then again, they aren't the perfect smooth drywall that a lot of people must have.

There are a few things with that house that I'd accept, but the whole package of the problems REALLY sucks.
Ya, I like the rustic feel of a log home. I don't mind the checking that occurs, etc. that's sort of the appeal.

I'm gonna go all the way with the cabin feel and order one of those deer antler chandeliers and get a bearskin rug, etc.

As long as I don't end up with something that lets the sun shine through the walls. LOL.

Supposedly the thru-bolt system the builder I'm looking at uses will help with settling, as you can tighten the logs back down after the majority of the settling occurs.
