Now, now - different people have different tastes.
My SIL is an interior designer and she had a FIT when I started picking stuff out. I wanted all different bright pastels throughout the house - "Like the Easter Bunny threw up" were my exact words to her.
If the teal loveseat and pink sofa weren't enough to put her over the edge, I'm in the process of painting almost each wall a different color. And contrary to her protesting, I won't put up any curtains and if I put up valances, they'll be VERY small (I don't want to block my view, lol!).
Of course, I think what really sent her off was when I hung the chili pepper lights on the deck and the large pastel Christmas lights in the screened porch!
I grew up in "show houses" and that my mother had professionally redecorated every few years (she and my SIL get along beautifully - natch). But I'm the only one who has to live here and I decorated it for ME - just like everyone should do.
