Truett Cathy is one of the nicest, most generous people on the planet. He lives in the same house he's always lived in - never "moved up, donates millions of dollars a year to charities, offers scholarships to his employees, pays more wages than any other FF restaurant, etc. There have been stories of his managers DRIVING to a customer's home to deliver food if they got the wrong order - their customer service is 2nd to none.
He's one of the few people that actually practices what he preaches. When he started, it was The Dwarf House down past the Atlanta Airport. He told his employees that they would always have every Sunday off to spend time with their friends and family. He loses millions of dollars of year to keep that promise, and IMHO, that's pretty amazing!
We sold him my grandfather's farm and he's turned it into a home and camp for problem kids.
Yeah, he looks like a goof ball
but he really is a neat guy and has done an amazing amount of good for whatever community he opens a store in. I have to drive 60 miles each way to get a chicken sandwich and lemonade and I've been known to drive there just to get one.
