Bars in Vancouver used to advertise "medium rare" burgers and people loved buying them, even though I was taught growing up that mince meeat has to be cooked all the way through because unlike steak, it's dangerous for E. coli... but that's just what I learned growing up.
Once I was in my early 20s and dating an asian chick who would eat half-raw fried chicken and she thought I was crazy for not wanting to eat uncooked chicken and broke up with me on the spot basically when I refused to eat her cooking.

No, E. coli is not rare; but cooking the food correctly and safe handling prevents problems.
You can eat medium rare burgers or chicken if the core temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
Be glad you don't date that female anymore. No reason for her to make you eat that shit.
Storming out on you over it was the tip of her iceberg of arrogance. You would have been miserable living with her.
