re paid vs free, the only difference is that free ones have a tiny line of text at the very bottom of the site that reads: Proudly powered by WordPress | Theme: [theme name].. I use a mix of free and paid themes on my sites and I highly doubt a single client or visitor has ever noticed or cared either way, but maybe that's diff for a subscription site-I wouldn't the person to give advice on that
Marc, I get you want to improve traffic before making any changes, but the point is if half the peeps who land on your site immediately leave cuz they can't see ish, you'll never be able to grow the site
just do it already
