That sounds like a rookie mistake on his end. Most White Label partners don't own the copyright to the content in the JSON feed—the main network does.
If you are pulling the feed legitimately through the network, his DMCA has no standing. I wouldn't waste time sending nasty letters; just file a counter-notice or contact the network's affiliate manager directly to get him to back off.
