When I was 15 or 16 or so, right before I became a homeless teenager for 2 years, I was in grade 10 at Earl Marriot High School in White Rock, B.C., and we had a super heavy snow happen right when we got to school but the other high school in town called it a snow day... so guess who showed up at lunch at our high school?
Like hundreds of students from the other school... can you guess what happened next?
COMPLETE AND TOTAL CHAOS.
At lunch when students realized the army that appeared at the smoke pit / park across the school, a snowball fight of epic proportions broke out. This would be fine, but because of the heated rivalry in football and other areas, some of the snowballs were iceballs, and a couple of the prettiest girls took full ice-balls to the face and were bleeding. Busted lips, black eyes, broken noses, no kidding, it was a full blown snow-war.
Now it was 30+ years ago, but I remember it was a huge, big deal in the community the next day and I bet if you looked at the White Rock newspaper, I'm like 90% positive there was an article because if I remember correctly, even the police were called. Anyone seen throwing a snowball was in big time trouble, which was at least 500+ students.
I'll never, never ever forget that massive snowball fight that lasted like 2+ hours starting at lunch, and the injuries, the fights, angry teachers, and the RCMP didn't even show up until hours later, which was actually cool by the cops, because even if a few people got hurt, that was the definitive snowball fight of my youth. 2+ hours of mayhem and non-stop hundreds of people throwing snow and ice balls until your arms were lead. Probably one of the funnest and craziest days of my entire teenage years!
