I have to dispute this for January. Perhaps by the end of the month the above may be true but right after the Holidays people are looking for New Year's sales and discounts.
When I compare my paysite sales to last year I see the first week of January 2024 being almost exactly like the same time period from 2023 and 2022. (It spiked in 2021 because of Covid.)
But this week (so far) has been a disaster, in line with what the OP is asking. I even contacted CCBill to run test transactions because of the low overall activity. But this is only 3 days of the week (so far) so let's see how the week ends. But definitely strange.
