Sounds staged to me... RIAA could have paid these people as actors, to make examples of them, in an attempt to keep other kids from downloading MP3s and instilling the fear of God in them.
If I'm not mistaken, don't they track the downloads through a user's ISP? Just because the screen name downloading the music, happened to be "owned" by a 12 year old kid, shouldn't they be suing the person whose name the ISP is in? Which has to be an adult. Unless of course, they contacted the ISP subscriber and the adult pointed the finger at the 12 year old user. Just odd.
All those lawsuits sound like scare tactics to me, if they aren't... they go way too far.
They say music sales suffer from people downloading MP3s... Maybe they should get some more talent instead of suing kids for their milk money. If they aren't selling as many records, it's because the music is pure shit. Eminem sold like what? Over 11 million albums last year alone? People will still buy the whole album, if the music is good. The kids who download excessive MP3s everyday or whatever, wouldn't be buying the CDs anyway. I download MP3s because I don't have a 100 disc CD Rom, it's easier to listen to them that way when I am at my computers. I still buy the CDs.
