You don't really need a developer, and honestly, 50/50 is alot of money to spend on one.
Instead, Look around for pre-built forum software as there is alot out there, and most including vBulletin, have a paid member feature. Most forums can be customized to work the way you need them to.
If you really want a custom solution then hire a programming outfit (
like us!) to do it for you. You will have to pay for the development time but it will be cheap compared to a 50/50% revenue split.
You could also take the hybrid approach. Get an existing forum software, then pay a programmer to customize it. This is the fastest, cheapest way to get it done.
