When you take it outside, and it goes to the bathroom, give it a treat. That's how I trained both of mine, very easily.
Dachshunds have a voracious appetite, and will eat themselves to death. You have to limit the food. When Oscar was a puppy, he got into a bag of food and tripled in size! Needless to say, he shit for days.

I have been told about the whole crate idea...I thought it was just a thing for puppies until they learned how to control themselves. I guess not. The puppy is already paper trained and the lady suggested that when I want it to shit outside, to put the paper near the door and when he goes to it, take him outside to shit instead.
So, I cant get one of those automatic food dispensers? He'll eat it all? heh Thanks for the tips btw!
