I had one for about 5 years. He was not overweight by any means and not very active, but I had to put him to sleep about a year ago because he became paralized from the middle of his back and down. This is fairly common in dogs with long bodies as the weight of it tends to make the back kill nevers and stuff.

Don't know the whole medical explination of it all, but I know it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do putting him down. Might want to concider that part of it before you get one.

One a positive note, he was a great fucking dog - probably the best one I have ever had!
