The remaining crew members, including Ellen Ripley, the ship's warrant officer, desperately tried to find a way to defeat the Alien. They tried to trap it, outsmart it, and even blow it out of the airlock, but nothing seemed to work.
As the crew's numbers dwindled, Ripley realized that the Alien was not just a mindless killing machine, but a highly intelligent and adaptable predator. It could think and plan, and it seemed to have a personal vendetta against the crew.
