If a film is suitable for a 9 year old it's obviously safe for older people, so your baseline for content is obviously what's suitable for the 9 year old.

You've suggested a 6/10 violent R-rated action film, a 6/10 13+ horror movie and a 6/10 Tom Hanks relic from the 1980s, while writing off some of the most highly acclaimed family movies of the modern era. (If anything, I think adults are into Pixar and Paddington even more than kids.)

LOL they might be if the year was 1989, but in a "good new movies for a 9 y/o" thread from that year you'd presumably be going "hell no" and instead recommending the latest from Charlie Chaplin and Fatty Arbuckle.
