Ok since it hasn't been said here - Marc died of a diabetic shock - meaning his blood sugars went low thereby the window of opportunity to recover by taking sugar either through orange juice etc. was gone and he went into a coma and died. This you can't blame on the person - I am diabetic myself and have experience the feelings of the shock - thankfully I have a meter attached to my arm that I can tap with my IPhone immediately to get a reading then quickly grab something. What you feel is disorientated- brain is foggy - you find it difficult to speak or concentrate and your balance is off among other things like dizziness. If Marc was alone or in other situations - especially in Thailand where they don't exactly have a fast response time with an ambulance the coma would set in.
