Well I heard it comes down to economics (as always).
Sativa plants are tall plants and have long thin finger-like buds. But it takes longer to grow as opposed to the bush-like indicas. So they can sell the indicas quicker and make more $$$ that way. Most sativas are hybrids, mixed with indica for faster harvesting.
It's almost impossible to find pure 100% sativa plants but when you do WOW it's like smoking cocaine without the side effects. LOL
