It's because of the US that these small European countries can have the LUXURY of bragging about how THEY don't have to have a military. They can sit back SO smug about how peaceful they are when the ONLY reason that they are not under a communist dictatorship is because of us. Now they can just spit on our culture and our productivity that has made us able to protect them in the first place.
And the WWII card is played again...

FYI, the US did not fight Germany because they wanted to help the "poor Europeans". After Japan attacked the US, Germany and Italy declared war on the US, and in response to that, the US declared war on them.
My country wasn't protected at all... after it got occupied, the US did nothing at all. It was only when war was declared on the US that they really stepped in. But guess who liberated my country? The Canadians.

Yes, American soldiers did great things when fighting the Germans. As did soldiers from many other countries. But please, don't pretend it was a selfless act done only by Americans out of pure mercy with us poor Europeans.

Now, about communism... I was under the impression that the US didn't ally with the Western Europian countries because they wanted to save the world, but because they saw communism as a threat to themselves and wanted as many allies as possible to fight that threat.

But regardless of all that... so what? The US wouldn't have existed if it hadn't been for Europeans risking their lives exploring that area, but you don't hear us saying you should bow down before us and praise us for that.

The funniest thing, though, is that we aren't bashing America, at least, most of us aren't. We may disagree with what your government does sometimes, but over here, that's considered normal. Criticizing governments is not considered a personal attack on all the inhabitants of an entire nation over here. Then again, maybe we're just strange like that.

And since you completely dodged the question, again, I ask: Why do you people (note for the paranoid: "you people" doesn't refer to all Americans, just the ones constantly bragging and hurling insults at the country of anyone that may slightly disagree with them) feel such a need to prove yourself? And where do you get all these strange ideas about being the "best" country and all Europeans wanting to live in the US and such?
