Insurance wasn't my issue - I didn't want to watch my pictures, collectibles, keepsakes, etc. go into the ocean.
I would never buy unless I was beachfront and it wasn't worth the risk for me. But I'm a wuss.
Instead, I rent a house there for a month or two a year - all the fun, none of the responsibilities.
