Officials in southern Ontario’s automotive supply chain are ecstatic over General Motors’ decision to reopen its sprawling Oshawa Assembly Complex calling it unprecedented and a huge opportunity for the corridor’s deep pool of companies supplying the industry.
As part of the tentative contract settlement reached at 3 a.m. Thursday with Unifor, GM confirmed it will invest $1.3-billion to ready the plant for production of Silverado and Sierra pickup trucks beginning in January 2022.
