It got really bad there last few years. Lots of drugs, homeless people. Even in nicer areas of the city which used to be very clean. I can't say for Rio but Sao Paulo became a shit hole. Even in Japanese area we saw lots of people passed out on the street, needles everywhere, guy taking a shit at a bus stop. Nasty. Hopefully new president will straighten shit out.
