Nobody wants to pay attention to the collateral damage done due to lock downs. You mentioned suicides, overdoses and domestic violence and can add to that; much higher levels of depression overall, deaths from cancer and cardiovascular disease increasing and will increase for months due to people or hospitals delaying treatment (it's too late at one point), economic strain on the middle class, higher economic strain on the poor resulting in high levels of stress in the house and for those kids not going to school I feel for them. On top of that the UN predicts 100k people and children will starve due to food shortages resulting from lock downs and 1.5 million extras deaths from tuberculosis due to lock down and those infected not getting treatment, so it spreads. Never mind changing the economy for years to come.

We don't bat an eye at any of that.

Yes the virus is real and yes it is worse than the flu but some perspective is badly needed here.

Europe - Softer lock downs than USA (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Holland). Everything okay.

Hawaii - high mask usage, cases spiking
Japan - high mask usage, cases spiking.

Masks have nothing to do with stopping the spread.
