You can say THAT again. Toons aren't overly expensive but dirt bottom prices are $150 reason being after uncle sam gets his cut plus the legal fees for starting you end up with like maybe 50%.
Besides, a logo can go a lonnnng way. In corporate graphics that can go into the 100k pay range EASY.
A logo/graphic/character can branch off into millions of dollars worth of merchandise and what does the artist get? $100?
I appreciate the intent. Contests are fun but the paper costs more than $50
