I do not think this is a wise way of dealing with this and I do not recommend it to anyone that cares about his/her business.
The consequences of such actions are not pleasant and if a person thinks that a simple domain change is going to make a difference then you are totally mistaken.
I am not an attorney and this is just my opinion, but I am pretty sure that the individuals that are responsible for doing what Lace's site did could be held personally liable for such actions. In my mind, actions like that could be construed as willful infringement. If that is the case, it could mean huge fines PLUS other damages.
We can show why we do not validate the patent. We can invalidate the patent. We can license. We cannot run and play hide and seek because Acacia is not playing games and this is a serious LEGAL matter.
