Isn't buying likes being punished by instagram now?
I mean, the people liking your instagram, aren't real followers, so they don't contribute to your brand. You could make the argument that increases social proofing, which is true to a certain degree, until your REAL followers start to figure out that you're a fake and leave you OR instagram decreases your visibility or bans you for trying to cheat.
