Here's one thing I don't understand: French school children are spoonfed with French litterature day in and day out. It's Racine, Corneille, Molière and what have you - and they don't learn English very well. But then, later in life, those young French people sit here posting on an English language message board - and don't want to touch on Maupassant. See the disconnect?
