So in SEO, you have two choices - to be creative and create unique content to rank for keywords which does not have much competition , or just spin generic content and push all resources to number of backlinks.

it's not just most backlinks tho, they have the most content, they buy the most traffic, they get the most type-ins
and their backlinks? they use their blog to bait backlinks from major news sites, you won't see forbes linking to xvideos but they link to pornhubs blog
plus they have a massive network of feeder sites using every different kind of blackhat seo to acquire traffic
you gotta give 'em more credit than "spin generic content and push all resources to backlinks"
