This is your answer right here, you need to approach companies directly and work out pay for performance deals with them. My buddy has a fairly successful comedy podcast, and in the early days before he had an audience nobody would pay to advertise with him unless he passed a certain downloads per episode threshold. Back then I would hear Adam & Eve advertising on a lot of podcasts, so I approached them and they hooked him up with a code that he advertised on the podcasts, and he would get paid on a percentage of sales deal. A few of the larger pharmacy websites gave him the same deal. It wasn't huge money, but as he grew it was a couple bucks to make doing the podcast worthwhile. Later on when he grew his numbers companies would start hitting him up to advertise, and now he has Blue Chew and a few others on a more traditional advertising deal...
