I've had it happen twice when I spent just the few minutes time adding to my shopping cart and when I was checking out, one was taken by someone else. So now on the really good ones I just put 1 in the cart and check out instantly.
I'm still floored everyday when I see the names people are letting go of. Some of them are so great you just shake your head and wonder if you're seeing things.

I could have registered "Canada.com" but it wasn't netiquette when I began registering domains to have more then one.
A week later or something ...
I thought about it one more day ...
because someone registered one of the provinces ...
What use would Canada.com be if you didn't own all the other domains too right?
Another week later ...they were all gone.
I do what you do now - register immediately - and think logically later.
