I have been credited with the being the first one to refer to GFY as "The Zoo".
I do not know how accurate that is but it is the term I adopted for it back when I was posting on Oprano.
It was never meant as an insult, although some took it that way. Zoo is a surfing term referring to a very crowded spot. Lots of people, lots of noise.
