got told on a newbie board (ANS) in 2004, also got told 'it's a bit of a jungle', and to basically ignore it, so didn't bother lurking until 2005. Still very fast moving back then and took up way too much time, so I didn't bother reading properly until I signed up in 2007 I think it says. Wasn't the best advice I ever got as a newbie to kinda 'ignore' gfy, so I missed a lot of opportunites. To be fair though, I'd have probably got involved in way too many pissing matches, and not have the circle of friends I now have.
