Somewhat of an eye-opener...but not surprising considering the recent proliferation of ticks. Everyone I talk to these days has their own tick-related story, whether it's a friend or family who's been bitten or afflicted with lyme disease.

Last summer I took my dog to a local beach on the north shore of Lake Erie for a short hike, and when we got back to the car I found a tick on the white fur of his chest. And he wasn't in long grass at all...strictly on the sandy beach area.

We keep our dogs well-treated for ticks...but still the fear and paranoia is there.
