Think about this for a moment.. if those guys had even gone up to his floor and simply made some noise letting the shooter know they were there... the shooter couldn't have then focused solely on shooting out his window, he'd have to stop and lose his focus on shooting but instead dealing with potential cops busting in..
Just a simple act like that likely would have saved people because the shooter would be distracted

and I am telling you that most homo sapiens would not charge an unknown number of automatic weapons with a pea shooter gun...it is easy to be "hindsight armchair rambo" that knows there was just 1 shooter and that there was no claymore at the door waiting to blast them in to kingdom come...
