Why are you lying? You are not required to take any classes, or buy permits or fill out any application to buy a gun..or ammo..

If you buy a new gun from a retailer then yes you have to fill out some paper work and wait 2 days before picking it up. The only time you have to get a permit is to conceal carry but many states you can open carry with no permit required..

Meanwhile you can, legally buy a gun from a individual with out any paperwork required. Yes certian types of guns ie full auto require extensive background checks and a whole lot of hoops to obtain a license but that is not the norm..

Do you have to register your gun?
However, it is not required that owners of long guns purchased prior to 2014 register their firearms and it is not a crime to be in possession of an unregistered firearm. While the Firearm Safety Certificate is required for new purchases of firearms, ongoing possession of a firearm does not require a license or permit.
