You think telescopes can zoom in on a planet 4 light years away? Just how do you suppose they determine whether life exists on planets that far away?
They can detect water, plants, trees, etc. In fact they have and the evidence isn't good on advanced civilisation.

There are no special resources here that don't exist all throughout the galaxy. There is nothing to exploit.
Who say so? They could have exhausted all their own resources and would need to travel the universe to exploit others.

There is life on other planets, my point is. Is there civilised life advanced enough to travel the universe?

So far scientists are looking and they have found no evidence of civilised life. But keep dreaming that out there are new worlds like in the Star Wars and Star Trek.
