You can act as if that was some grievous "lie", but exaggerating a medical condition was a common way to out of the draft. What would you have done? Student deferment? Trump probably would have done that as a Plan B, if the medical route had failed. The medical route gets you permanently disqualified, a student deferment does not, which is why people tried the medical first.
