Why would I do that? Those people - kids most of them - went to war because they were ordered to go. I would have been against the war, but not against the soldiers. I would have protested the government, but not the people ordered to go.
You want proof? Nixon ran on a platform that opposed the Vietnam war, but to win the election, he needed the war to continue:

If I had been ordered to go I would have done what I could to get out of it too. The difference is that I wouldn't have lied about it like Trump did, and still does.
