Rambo I was a good movie. I still like it. Rambo II - a funny comedy. But Rambo III... For serious?
Some says that Soviet Union has lost the Afghan war like Americans lost their war to Vietnam. That's not true. The Soviet forces were pulled out with a parade like winners as a gesture of good will of Gorbachev to the United States of America. You all know how this good will turned out for you at September 11 of 2001.
These guys (many of them are just 18 year old kids) were fighting your fuckin' American Taliban headed by your CIA agent Osama Bin Laden.

Operation Storm-333 - Wikipedia (take your attention to the Strength and Casualties and losses columns). I doubt that even an imaginary Hollywood heroes may do this.
If you want to make an action movie about real heroes (not the Marvel comics ones), you should film it about Operation Storm-333 when 660 Russian troops have stormed a well-secured palace with 2,200 guards, did their job and lost only 14. Do you understand that these guys may save all people killed in NY on September 11th of 2001 if they were not pulled out by Gorbachev? As a Russian I'm welcoming that decision because I don't want my people to return from that war in coffins, but
IF I were an American I would very angry at why it happened. Remember, that about 90% of the Afghan territory was fully controlled by the Soviet forces when Gorbachev has made a gift to his new friend - the US president and pulled out the whole military group.
