Humans then had the same brains we have today. They did not lack our ingenuity but rather our combined technological advances and knowledge of today.
ie they could figure shit out and I'm quite certain they could navigate the oceans. I dunno why they always get so surprised when they find out there were ancient trade routes between the older civilizations.
I mean sure it's cool to learn about that stuff and I like old history, but why people think these ancient civilizations couldn't travel is beyond me..
