Because scared people like you are afraid of anything and anyone who is "other". In my neighbourhood I have white people, black people, arabic, Italians, Greeks, and a lesbian couple, all on one block.
You know how I know this? Because we go outside and hang out on our street. The kids play with RC cars, the adults share bottles of wine. We all talk to each other, welcome each other to the neighbourhood. We have dinners, we have pool parties, we have cigar parties.
Go outside and and say hello to your black neighbours. You will help make your neighbourhood a better place and you'll stop being so scared and miserable all the time.
