I know this isn't a popular opinion, but I do agree that population control is necessary. Who lives or doesn't live, or how to implement it, I don't know because there are many competing strategies, from the plausible to the unbelievably arrogant.
If you travel widely, you see that much of humanity lives in truly horrible squalor, from which they will never escape.
I always hoped for space travel or colonization, but that is a fantasy in my lifetime.
