The real problem with attacking 'FAKE NEWS' is that there is no true legal definition.

You walk a fine line between freedom of the press and your freedom of information that has not been sanitized by the government itself.

Ask Putin. He just declared it was illegal to insult Putin online.

So, you don't think we would have a reason to worry in the US ?
Look at all the 'grey areas' in the laws being challenged by Trump.

Can you see one of the major news organizations in the states being told to give up their sources to remove a charge of being 'FAKE NEWS' ?

You are at present, left with a fuzzy rule decided in the courts at present.

So the devil is in the details of how you describe in legal terms, what is 'FAKE NEWS'.
And
What is News and a News organization.

I think as a civil matter, they simply have the need to be liable for the content.
As well as politicians liable for what they say. They exempt themselves completely.

All part of the Powell Memo still coming to fruition. The corporate blueprint for take-over of the government, now over 40 years old.
