We - meaning nearly all countries - have been handing out firearms likes candy for decades. Nearly anyone who wants one can get one. Firearms are not for sport, or for fun, or for target practice...

I can tell you how this is going to end... They are going to take all firearms away. It's already happening. Here in the United States, the laws are getting tighter and tighter. This morning there was an article about people new gun laws in New Zealand, and how people are voluntarily turning in firearms.

This is the problem in the United States.... In other countries there is a single shooting and they ban most kinds of weapons. New England and Australia come to mind. Here in the United States we say "too bad" and more recently "thoughts and prayers" and nothing gets done. Here in the United States the discussion is "If we take away all of the firearms, only the criminals will have them". Perhaps - but only at first. Eventually no one will have firearms.

I'll never forget the day I was picking up my at her high school when shots rang out. She was in the middle of a grassy field and just froze. Seconds later the school went into lockdown and she was in a full panic. It was by far the worst thirty seconds of my life. It turns out that it was a police shooting two blocks away but we didn't know that when shots rang out.

Gunman are going into our schools and murdering our children. "More guns" are not the solution. We have armed guards in schools and it's obvious that a good guy with a gun usually doesn't stop a bad guy with a gun - while they are trying to locate the gunman kids are dropping left and right.

The only solution is to remove firearms from society.
