Unfortunately, that is exactly what it is.
I remember our high school teacher 30+ years ago, was trying to enlighten us about the dangers of media outlets merging, being owned partially or wholly by large non media conglomerates, and by foreign entities and governments.
He pointed at simple examples where a company like Johnson & Johnson, owning Tylenol as a brand, may not get negative coverage about a Tylenol product recall on TV Channel XYZ, because J&J owns a 2% stake in ABC Media Holdings, which owns Channel XYZ.
