The Enquirer has fought against big Hollywood icons and didn’t fold. I have a vague memory of Carol Burnett suing them for printing lies and they stayed alive. Each lawsuit has cost them lawyer fees but not much else. “Unnamed sources” is another word for “we made this up” and courts let them stay anonymous.
In high school I wrote a story about proving legally beyond doubt. Big star does show in Boston. I meet up with him, he stays in my bed for hours, then leaves. I claim forced sex or rape the next day. I have medical evidence and hospital reports as proof. Despite his pleas, he’s convicted of rape.
But, I lied. He had sex with me but said I was lousy in bed. He left in anger as I was in tears. I grabbed a sex toy, roughly used it, brought it home and claimed rape. Forensic tests showed his semen present. Bruises and abrasions were there.
Payback for dissing me.
Lie detector tests are inadmissible in court. Medical proof against the word of a playboy actor. I had no record and had excellent grades in school.
Hmmm ...... A+ and it was discussed for weeks. It isn’t hard to concoct the story and prove it. Evidence can be planted,witnesses can lie and today photos can be altered.
The pictures are real. Jeff admits to cheating. But how many innocent people are convicted in court and the press by false claims and false evidence? The Enquirer will hide behind anonymous people and claim they bought the hacked texts and pictures from unnamed sources. They will go to prison until they name the source. Eventually they’ll print a retraction, issue an apology, pay a fine and say information was sent anonymously, probably with a falsified handwritten note as proof.
Bezos can afford to fight this forever. The Enquirer has money but not enough. They’ll work out a deal somehow. Then they’ll continue on, making up stories with a tiny bit of truth.
