A more secure border is needed. Impossible to hire more guards, using the army is unacceptable but a good idea, so better borders requires some physical presence. Everyone was happy with a better fence, but a Wall is unacceptable. Strange.

Why is it okay to put up more fencing which must include electronic surveillance yet wrong to build a wall with electronic surveillance? A wall won't be a 100% solution, neither will a fence. People can still tunnel, dig, overstay, etc a fence or a wall. Or is it just a Trump idea?

The claim that it's only Trump hiring illegals is even more stupid, but the anti Trumpers want you to think that. Millions of illegals now work in the US, the worse are the unskilled, criminals and dependants, the people who find it hardest to get a visa to overstay with. These are bringing down wages, costing taxpayers and criminals.

There needs to be a many pronged approach to migration. A Wall is only one part.

The truth is illegal immigration in the United States has changed in the past decade. Through out the years immigrants came to the United States for purely economic reasons. Illegal immigrants - mostly Mexicans - would legally cross the border, stay long enough to do some work, and then go home... The money they made in the United States went A LOT further in Mexico. Eventually they discovered they could just move here full time. They could get a job and they could get housing.

However, that's changed. Most employers use the e-verify system, and most companies don't want hire strangers - day laborers - off of the street and just pay them cash. It's too difficult to hide that you are paying people cash, and the liability is an issue. Housing is also an issue; Landlords and apartments do not want to rent to people who can just return home and landlords have no legal recourse to go after them for money.

At the very same time, it's become more of a risk to get caught in the United States illegally. It's also easier to get a work visa to come to the United States for a period of time. I live in California and the entire farming community is based on immigrant workers. They get a work visa and come here for a month or two or longer. Farmers here help them get work visas and even house them.

Illegal immigration in the United States is down.

Keep in mind illegal immigration in the United States is vastly different than the problems Europe has with illegal immigration.
