On topic, I don't think VR is the future yet for exactly the reason you said. Plus, the tech just doesn't look that great yet and who wants to be 100% blind if someone walks in while they are masturbating?

I think Augmented Reality has better legs than VR.
I don't want to necessarily block out the world, but if with augmented reality you could have performances appear in the room around you that would be pretty cool.
I think both technologies still haven't reached prime time, there needs to be some more innovation and a killer app to drive things along.
