You say you want to be honest, so be honest.

Tell people in advance what you want to shoot at their location. If they want to see your previous work give them a URL where they can see your previous work. And then hope for the best. You'd be surprised at how many locations have no issue with adult.

Some of them prefer to have some way of possible deniability in case people recognize their location in film in the future.

I filmed at my chiropractors office and a restaurant next to my studio. They all knew in advance what I was filming and none of them had issues with it it was all about getting paid and leaving the location clean & neat as it was when you got it.
