It's the 21st century equivalent to The Clapper.
I use mine all the time. I have a couple of them (one in living room, one in bedroom). It's great for multi-tasking or listening to podcasts/online radio, etc. Great for music, too. You can even call people on it.
Hell, I just used it to spell 'equivalent'.
